本稿は，建築家・大髙正人の著作にみる伝統論の展開を明らかにするものである。研究の結果，大髙の伝統論は，既往の伝統理解の総括では捉えきれず，大髙の独自の伝統論として，＜弁証法的創造プロセスの評価＞，＜新しい技術・素材の応用＞，＜地域性の重視＞の３つの論旨が、活動期間を通じて継続的に主張されたものとして指摘できた。さらに，＜屋根と庇の評価＞が，1960年代頃から集中的に見られた。大髙の生涯の設計活動において，伝統論が重要な役割を果たしていたことが読み取れよう。

This paper clarifies the development of the theory of tradition in the written works of architect, Masato Otaka. As a result, Otaka’s main theories of tradition could be pointed out as three points: “evaluation of the dialectical creation process,” “application of new technologies and materials,” and “emphasis on locality.” Additionally, “evaluation of roofs and eaves” was seen concentrated since the 1960s. It can be said that the theory of tradition played an important role through the all Otaka’s design activities.
